So I've changed gaskets twice now, new rubber gaskets on the bolts, and new rubber seal on the pump. I still get a slight weeping from the bottom of the pump. Does anyone use silicone to seal this? I don't know what else to do besides torque the bolts tighter.

Any ideas?

thinking dye and a blacklight might be a good route at this point.

Don't torque the bolts tighter u will crack the lugs on the case. R u using a band clamp to align the pump & support? U really have to or u will not get the pump in the case. Check the support for flatness & the case. I put a coat of copper coat on the gasket & a film of silicone sealer on the square cut oring, no leaky.

yes I would use some sealer as unfortunately part dimentions ain't perfect. I would use "the right stuff" gasket maker, a thin/even amt. it WILL seal! EDIT some on the bolt threads too

As stated, must use band to properly align the pump halves. Case may have cracks, inspect or dye as suggested. If it's right, it will seal.

I use some teflon sealant or even silicone on the bolt threads as they are not blind holes. No other real leak issues there that I can remember. Any damage on the pump bore in the case? Does the front drum have the small hole drilled under the piston for use with a transbrake? If so, oil may be getting out of the vent and running down. I would not object to using a bit of silicone to help seal the o-ring if it was needed. Any silicone in a transmission is applied sparingly.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I ratchet strap my trans to bench leg and assemble them vertically so nothing can fall apart during assembly. I've always put everything together dry. Maybe that's my issue. I've just gotten lucky in the past.

Not sure what you mean by using a band clamp to align the front pump.

Yes, it's dry below the converter snout. It's just the bottom, of the pump that's wet.

Didn't know the pump wasn't apart. When a pump is apart u have use a band clamp or as I do, us a hose clamp to align the 2 halves or u will have a hell of a time getting the pump in the case. As Mike stated, check the converter snout for a crack at the slot for the pump gear. Mine cracked twice, I changed to flat drive snout.

I'll check that band plug in the morning.

Not the vent, the pump is dry from 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock.

Try pressure checking the converter while its out. Mine was weeping where it seats into the rear of the crank. I rigged up it with some stuff from lowes to check it. Good luck.
