I just pulled the 340 engine out of my 69 Valiant to rebuild, now that I can see the VIN on the block is there a way to tell what car it originally came out of?

So it's out of a 71 that was built in Hamtramck....A or E body, is there a way to find the exact car? I'm just curious about it nothing more if it's a bunch of trouble.

Numbers on the front are 6 29 70. I would also guess that the car it is out of was from around Winnipeg

No, numbers are on the front of the block, driver's side, just below the deck surface.

I would say the engine has always been around Winnipeg, just wanted to see if it was out of a 71 Swinger 340

I would say the engine has always been around Winnipeg, just wanted to see if it was out of a 71 Swinger 340 Weren't all the 71-72 Swinger 340's built in Windsor, Plant Code "R"? So that would preclude this one being from the Hammy plant.

I have no idea about numbers or VIN's , this is the 3rd 340 I have owned and just wanted to see if someone could tell me what car it came out off originally. Thanks' for all the reply's !
