I have a late build 71 340 Duster (July 9th), blue engine, Hamtramck car. The oil filter is angled toward the passenger side.
My friend has a 1971 California Built, mid year, 1971 Duster 340 and his oil filter points straight to the firewall and angles downward slightly. Are they different because of the build dates or different plants?

we're talking about the clocking of the 90 deg adapter? (filter tilted at a different angle?)

I cant see anything there. I'm dealing with the same problem, I take a pic & it looks good on the camera when I save it but when I load it on the computer it is too dark to be usefull

not sure what the exact OE clocking is but I just get it so it clears everything & gives the most clearance to access the filter when changing it (I want a wrench to be able to slip on it)

Here's a pic of my 1970 engine after removal from the car. I clocked it's position before I disassembled the engine to get it back to it's original position. I'm sure that there is a range for position. That's where it was when the new cars came in that I remember (I was the new car pre-delivery guy and got to test drive them all) one of the things was checking to make sure the filter was tight.
