I'm on a never ending quest to remove unneccesary weight with out spending any money. The factory up and down bump stop brackets look like at least 4-5 lbs. I can use a cable for a upper A-Arm limiter. The lower is another story. I could move the stop inward on the lower arm so it contacts the rail. Though it might have to be sunk into the middle of the arm towards the pivot. Or maybe it doesn't even need one. I doubt if the aftermaket front susupensions have them or a tube car. The car may be a wheelstander. How about it what do you guys use? The car should be aprox 3300lbs w/driver,10.5W tire, ladder bar. Hping to go low 9. I would think once the suspension is dialed it should leave pretty smooth. 20 things that weigh 5lbs is 100lbs

I have no problem using a bolt. But what I want to eliminate is the bulky bracket welded to the frame rail.

You would be better off using that bracket for the
bolt stop(you might be able to trim it down )

How about the lower arm stop? Do I need it? I wonder how effective it is on cushioning a wheel stand.

I would prefer to have something there to absorb
some of the shock and not just steel to steel,
but I dont run a stock frontend, my struts have a
rubber cushion on top to pick up the load. Maybe
someone that runs a stock front will chime in

I would leave the lower stop in place. I use a rounded carrige bolt through the factory upper snubber hole.

I agree with leaving the lowers and the uppers if you dont want it to come up.A pair of Afco's will also slow the front end.

My Duster uses a spacer (I have a few of different heights) for the upper control arms, with an OEM rubber bumper where the control arm hits the limiter. Normal spec is 1.000 - 1.250 inches. The spacer is aluminum bar stock with a stud threaded into the bottom and a threaded recess for the bumper at the top. IIRC, the top of the bumper is trimmed flat by about 1/2" - to be honest I haven't looked at it in awhile...

When that wheel stand comes down, you will want something there. All it takes is one excessive wheel stand coming down hard to ruin your day.

Thats what I wanted to know. Big wheel stand w/o lower cushions. Are they of any value? Or will it hit hard even with them.

The AFCO's eliminated any need for travel limiters in my application. I can set it up to pull em 6 inches or hang em 3-4 feet at the twist of a knob. And yes it really is that easy.

It needs the lower rubber stops. Hit one with a hammer, you'll feel that it's worth while...
