Hi,

I am looking at various hyraulic roller retrofit lifter for Mopar BB. Cam will have .375"/.360" lobe lift. spring pressure at max lift should be around 370lbs. Shift at 6200rpm, Rev limiter at 6500rpm latest.

Morel has two versions:
6074 ("HiRPM")
5319 ("street")
Unfortunately Morell's website is pretty much useless regarding information on differences between those lifters. does one of them have the bushing everyone is after? Or are they both needle bearing type?

Other options are Comp Cam
8921-16

or one of the Hughes versions.
HUG 5319 (street)
HUG 6074 (race)

My favorite would be Comp, I always had good luck with their products and I get good pricing on them.
Anyone an idea about this?

I tried the Scorpions. Nothing but problems. Went to the Hughes ones. Work great, no problems at all.

did you use the "regular" Hughes or the race version?

I'm not the smartest guy in the world but it looks to me like the Hughes lifters are the Morels.

I just changed over to a solid FT cam from Hughes... the
2 choices they had for the FT was standard and light weight
and if it had the EDM hole on the face.. I went with the
light weight with the EDM hole.. their EDM hole is .012..
much smaller than the Comp solid roller.. .026.. on the roller
my oil pressure showed low and I base a lot of that on the .026
hole X 16... plus I PR hole so thats another built in leak but
I'm using paired TD rockers so PR oiling was basically my only
choice.. I plugged off the head oiling.... but all this was info
is for a solid FT so I cant help with the Hughes rollers.. but
I would be on the phone and ask and also ask about their EDM
oil hole if its .012 on them also

looking at the part #s I would bet a case of beer you are right ;-)

But I have not seen any of those lifters person.

Assuming Hughes = Morrel, that narrows it down to three choices.

I would still like to hear other's experience on which one to use.

Look at Johnsons Lifters, not to be confused with Johnson Hylift, different company and quality.

Go solid roller.

Morel makes lifters that get branded by several manufacturers just like lots of companies brand trend or smith brothers pushrods under their name.

I have a set of morel solid rollers in my boat engine that came from cam motion and are branded as such.

When I ordered mine they only had one choice. They didn't offer a street or race version. But I'm only running a .540 lift cam. So I'm guessing they would be more like the street version.
