I bought a complete 1968 block 440 motor but its been sitting for a few years. I have it torn apart to see whats in it and freshen it up. The rods are Eagle H beam, crank appears to be a stock steel crank. The crank is .010 under on both the mains and rods. The number on the Main bearing is MB1884M and the number on the rod bearings is CB527HD, both bearings are Clevite 77. I can't seem to find the MB1884M bearing and all I can find for the CB527HD is a CB527HND. Is a narrow bearing needed for this application if the bearings in there were just HD? Any idea what the MB1884M number changed to? I've always used P series bearings in my other motors without any issues (I only turn 6200 max). Which bearings should I go with? Thanks.

the easy answer would be to source some narrow bearings if that is what is in there now but if the early blocks have the wide recesses then I would want wide flange (#3) bearings in there

If it is a stock crank and its been turned .010
it would still have the notches at the edges of
the rods so a narrow bearing wouldnt be needed..
make sure there isnt any radius on the edges first

If the bearings you have look good (no copper showing) then stick them back in.

You can find that bearing. Try ebay
