Just about to get into my D100 for the drive to Carlisle, probably about 225 miles from where I live on Long Island.

Put new valve covers on this week with new gaskets, the old Direct Connection chrome ones were leaking badly. Changed the oil, adjusted the vacuum advance, aired up the tires, topped off the ccolant and installed a new fuel filter. Taking a few tools and some extra fluids, hopefully won't need them.

Wish it had A/C but the 4/70 method will have to do. It's ridiculously hot and humid out. No radio either but that's OK.

Hope to see some of you down there!

Made it and never missed a beat. I didn't really have any doubt it would I guess, I put a lot of work into it to make it safe and reliable. Bad part was that what normally takes a little over three hours took five today, ended up not getting to the show like I wanted to. Traffic has become insane everywhere.

There was one point though where things got a little dicey - I thought it was going to melt down while going through the city (NY). Took FOREVER today, well over 30 min. to navigate about a mile. Temp gauge was over 210 a couple times while idling for long periods but once on the highway it barely went over 180.

Got gas in NJ just out of the tunnel, hosed the radiator down before I got back on the road, worked great. Made it all the way to Carlisle on one tank with a little to spare, 13 mpg, best mileage so far for this green brick.

Bunch of compliments on it around town and at the hotel. Not bad for a beat up old truck.
