So i have a basic Firecore dizzy (no hei) and a Mallory 685 box (more or less a 6al) and a mallory E-coil to go into the not yet running car. Thinking that I should permanently wire in a switchable back up ignition module in case (when?) the Mallory dies inconveniently in some back water. It might come in handy for tuning too.

The Bim 024 seems a pretty tried and tested route, but i cant find technical details on anyone's modules, to see if there is anything with better bells and whistles - even a more expensive bosch module

Any suggestions?

Well it looks like a basic HEI module for a street car and if you could have it wired with a plug in connection just for a spare I would say it would work.
