Has the NHRA ever done this before?

The Eliminator will still be a bracket race. Qualifying and class should be interesting. Some will go out there and go for the gusto. The sensible ones will not show anymore than they need to.

I've been thinking about going on thursday & watching the sportsman qualifying/racing, this could be interesting.

IF you don't run 1.2 seconds under the index don't waste your time showing up. Still run off index but there's no HP penalty running all out. I think it's a sneaky way of finding out how fast some of these engine combos can run. There are a few that can run 2 seconds under( odd ball combos). They won't bag if they wanna make the field. You don't qualify ( I think it's 128 spots) you don't race.
