I have a 7 1/4 rear axle out of a 70 A-Body. What components/hardware from the 7 1/4 axle assembly can be transferred to 8 3/4? The 7 1/4 rear axle has 9-inch drums and the 8 3/4 will have 10-inch drums, so the drums and shoes will out along with backing plates. Axle half shafts? U-bolts that attach the leaf springs to the axle? Park brake cable?
I'm planning to stay with the 4-inch bolt pattern (drum brake setup) with the 8 3/4 axle assembly.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

The only thing that will interchange is the parking brake cables. What he said ... Axle tubes are larger so you need new u bolts AND shock plates and a shorter driveshaft .
running up my post count some more .

The gear oil interchanges. Now that's cheap. The brake lines might be made to work though.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
