30 over race only 360 with KB hypers. 5/64 moly top/cast 2nd. my measured 2nd ring gap is .028". will this hurt my power greatly (or so so) or am I OK as is? I could spring for another set if I need to. thank you for your time.

I would run it.


Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.

I run the second ring gap bigger that the top..
if it got by the top you dont want to hold it in
the second and cause flutter

OP, .028 end gap on the second will work fine thumbs

I agree that sounds fine. They are hypers as I know they call for a larger gap on the top ring then cast or forged pistons so just be sure and set the gaps at least as wide as the specs call for. I have run a few older worn engines with wider gaps and had no problems at all. Better to be a tad wide then to small of a ring gap. Ron
