I need to paint a repo mirror with remote for my 70 Challenger and am wondering how to paint it so that it looks factory correct. Does the screw that holds the base get painted or is it removed first? Did the factory shoot paint in and around the mirror or is that area masked off so that the gray primer shows ?
Advise please. Pics might me helpful. thanks Chris

If I can't fix it, I'll fix it so no one can !

I took out one of the 2 screws that holds the base to the main mirror body(not the base to door screws, the 2 on the inside of the base that hold it together) and found a piece of all thread the same size to thread into the mirror then basically made a big hook/handle to hold the mirror while spraying and hang to dry, I was always under impression that the mirrors got painted off the car so that's what I did but I am not 100%sure. also if you do it that way make sure you get the right size all tread for each mirror, I used after market mirrors and each mirror had different size threads
