My buddy has 10" wheels and 295's on his 69 Charger. Not sure if the Charger has the same clearance as the Road Runner.

With zero mods ...

15 x 10 wheel with 5-1/2 backspacing
28" tall tire with a 12-1/4" crosssection

Any taller will rub at the front of the wheel well

Smells like someone entered the Woodward street race.
I'd beg, borrow or steal a set of ET streets.

68 satellite, I ran centerline 15x 8.5 wheels, which have odd back spacing choices.
I used the 4 7/8" back spacing and a 1/2" spacer on my heap.
I ran M/T 29.5 x 10.5 bias slicks for years. Wore out several sets of them.
I also ran 9 x 30 bias and radial slicks.

Rick , charger wheel wells are fairly large. The Plymouth B bodies have always had tiny wheelwells compared to the Dodges starting in 68.

I've got 295/55R15 Mickey Thompson Street ETs on my 15" x 10" steel wheels with 5.5" backspacing. My car's a '68, but I doubt that a '69 is much different. There's sometimes a little rubbing if I turn corners too quickly, but other than that, I haven't had any issues.

Totally stock suspension or S/S springs and hangers ??
I could not put a 28.5" slick on my 69 without rubbing the front lip - stock suspension.

You have to look at the factory tolerances to see
if one will fit and another wont... yours rubbed
by how much.. would a 1/4" cleared with no problem
because the factory was pretty sloppy back then on
the tolerances(and a 1/4" was nothing)

This doesn't mean much by itself. The "295" is the tread width but without that second number we have no idea of how tall the tire is.

that said, 295 is about 11-3/4" wide tread. A 295 55 15 tire would be just shy of 28" tall. With a 10" wheel and 5-1/2" backspacing these should work just fine with 1/4" to spare at the inner wheel well - provided the axle is in the right place !!

I have 10" rims with 5.5BS in my 68 Satellite . I currently run 28x10.5 Pro bracket radials no worries . I have also run Hoosier 9x30R15 radials on a 8" rim , this is a 29.9" tall tyre , with no issues.
I run a 29" tall street tyre , 255/70R15 . I did try a 295/65R15 MT et street radial , 30" tall , it just barely touched the dogleg , rubbed some masking tape I put there . This tyre was only driven around the block , but was on a possibly wrong offset rim - rim was a 10" for a E body
I have Mopar XHD springs with Caltracs
Good luck

Tex

Same tire I run... its closer to 12" on a 10"
wheel.. but I built the car and the axle but I
have plenty of clearance

The 295 is the section width, not the tread width. See this quote from Tire Rack:

"Section Width

Following the letter(s) that identify the type of vehicle and/or type of service for which the tire was designed, the three-digit numeric portion identifies the tire's "Section Width" (cross section) in millimeters.

P225/50R16 91S

The 225 indicates this tire is 225 millimeters across from the widest point of its outer sidewall to the widest point of its inner sidewall when mounted and measured on a specified width wheel. This measurement is also referred to as the tire's section width. Because many people think of measurements in inches, the 225mm can be converted to inches by dividing the section width in millimeters by 25.4 (the number of millimeters per inch).

225mm / 25.4 = 8.86"
"

Standard terminology helps us all talk about the same thing.

Slicks are another system entirely.

I measured mine with 2 squares and a tape measure
pretty simple... I had to send my 295/65 back due
to the height.. just too close
EDIT
from Summit
Tire Size: 295/55-15

Wheel Diameter: 15 in.

Sidewall Style: Blackwall

Tire Construction: Radial

Tire Diameter: 27.80 in.

Tire Diameter Range: 27-27.99 in.

Section Width: 12.20 in.

Tread Width: 10.60 in.

Minimum Recommended Wheel Width: 8.00 in.
Maximum Recommended Wheel Width: 10.50 in.

I think Tire Rack confused themselves. First I've heard from widest point from the sidewall.... P metric tires are measured across there contact patch. 225mm = 9in the aspect ratio is a percentage of the tread width, and the last is the rim size. You guy's can figure out the rest.

Oh
A 28 x 12.50 x 15 sportsman pro.
It will rub if you turn a corner too fast on the inside of the wheelwell. These were on the black A12 Mike B. is selling. I am not sure on the wheel width as they were never measured.

Go get 'em Dave.
I know what you're (going) to do this Summer.
Unfortunately, I will not be out there with my car this time around, but I'll come and spectate.

With the original non-hp springs, then later with SS springs and hangers, then I went to a new set of XHD springs on the OE hangers with cal-tracs.
