I need to know how to identify what type of brake hose and/or lines I need to swap from my E-body 8.75" drum rear brake setup to use the same brakes on the Strange S-60 assembly I bought from Dr. Diff in spring 2015.

I'd talked w/ Cass about this at the time I bought the S-60, but don't recall now whether he said we can match up new hard lines as long as we know what type of hose leads to the existing 8.75 brake setup, or if it's going to require replacing some hoses as well as hard lines to the brakes once they're swapped over.

Until I get the S-60 in (even if it's just rolling-capable), I can't move The MoPig around in order to drop in the engine. Right now it's up on jack stands w/ the 8.75 housing still mounted, but the 3rd member & axles are gone (sold) so it's stuck until the new diff install.

realcrazy

On my '71 B-Body, the brake lines for the 8-3/4" worked on the S-60.
The nuts for the "T" bolts on the S-60 that hold the backing plates and axles would not hold at the factory torque spec (I think around 30-35 ft/lbs.) I bought some stock type replacements from Mancini Racing.

Are those nuts the same for both 8.75 and S-60, which would allow me to reuse what I have?

I've reused all the brake hardware off of several 8 3/4 to cut down Dana 60 more than once in the last couple of years up One of the Ford junk yard Dana 60 I used had the vent tube tapped on the passenger side of the housing so I had t adapt the hard lines and get a longer soft line to reach that location shruggy
I had a local shop narrow the housing and weld on the new 8 3/4 ends, I was able to reused the backing plate studs, nuts, backing plates and 10x2 1/2 inch brakes and drums also off of a 8 1/4 scope
IHTHs thumbs

You can use an E-body brass tee/flex hose. I recommend bending your own hard lines however. The vent bolt is in a slightly different location than stock due to the wider S-60 center casting.

Good to know now, rather than having spent the $$$ on pre-bent lines that don't fit. Thanks!

Yup, I went out and ordered prebent just to have to tweak them anyway. Waste of money, could have done it myself and made it look nicer for cheaper.. 68 b body 8.75 to a strange 60.
