I have sent my PF950HP off to have it converted to E85. Is it necessary or just a good idea to install a lean-out valve? Jim

A lean out valve is used with straight alcohol since the exhaust temp is so much lower. It allows you to build heat in the engine quicker. E85 doesn't necessarily require that since there is still some gasoline in it. It's a normal street fuel. I don't know of anyone who ever had a need for a lean out valve.

How much cooler ( engine temp ) do you expect to run with that fuel switch?

Well from what I read from other using it. They recommend a staging temp of 170-175 and should see about 185 at the end of the run.

If it has a power valve in it now you won't need any other way of leaning it down to make it heat up at part throttle scope At least mine doesn't shruggy Mine has 93 jets with a 6.5 power valve in the front and 103 jets in the back work AJ Casini at Bob George racing did the conversion on my Dominator several years back, works good, last a long time up

I always had a hard time keeping the temp up in the
staging lanes... so I would fire it up every 10 minutes
or less... was a lot of wasted fuel.. if I were to run
E-85 again I would put a lean out on it so I could just
flip a valve inside the car... and at the end of the day
when you try to dry out the oil(E-85 sucks up moisture
just like alky but not as bad).. but it still will get
moisture in the oil.... it would save you fuel.. just
remember to close it before the burn out box... a simple
way to have it all preset is to put a needle valve before
a 1/4 bigger valve... fine tune the needle then just turn
the 1/4 turn all the way... no need to play with too much
or too little on the 1/4 turn.... just run the hose inside
so its within reach(the valves)

never had any moisture in my oil, if the carb tune is right you won't get any. I have a like new E85 F.A.S.T. 02 system i'll make you a deal on, you will need it.
