What are you guys using on the indy covers for mounting..I have studs and locking bolts but I can't get the socket in at the bottom to tighten them enough to stop leaking..and I'm tired of oil running everywhere even when I jack the front of the car up it leaks out the back..

Dude! Sand down the outside of a 1/4" drive socket if you have to. One of the nice things about cast is that you can tighten them down good. I use a 1/4 drive 7/16 deep without any issue.

Use Moroso blue gaskets. And the socket suggested above.

1/4"- 7/16 deep and I use the thin gaskets and glue them to the bottom of the valve covers.
No issues easy off and on.

I run studs, use a 1/4" shallow 7/16 socket, thin (.060") Superformace gaskets. no leaks.

i use stainless steel mushroom head cap screws. i have a ball end Tee bar to tighten them down, no leaks from the rocker covers ever from both my Indy headed engine or my Stage 6.

Yes, the 12 point nuts are a good idea. You can also clearance the valve covers to get a socket in there, I'm sure there is plenty of meat to do it. Modifying a socket is another alternative but they are very hard and difficult to reduce in diameter.

Yes, the gasket performs best when there is proper clamp load applied wink

When I design valve covers I design in enough clearance for a socket. Not sure why Indy couldn't do the same thing. Only takes 30 seconds to measure a socket and enter the number into the CAD file.

Your covers are awesome. I have the Indy knockoffs from summit and they too are a little tight. I also had to open up the bolt holes because they didn't line up well. Thinking of the hex head cap screw idea for a little extra room.
