Has anyone tested what the rockwell C is on a lifter.. I expect the riding surface(that rides on the cam) to be about 60-62 rockwell C.. but I have never tested it

Unless you are a metallurgist, the smart choice is to go with the lifter that is recommended by the cam Mfg. - JMO.

Thanks Jake,
Crizila, Cam manufacturers use a number of lifters from different suppliers, the orders are filled per number that can be filled just like any other big company. They are just sending a spec and receiving a part to that spec. As long as the lifter is for that engine its just as good as any other lifter.
But in my case, I know that the majority of the cam lobe failures are lifters, not camshafts. I just don't want that issue. Yeah Hughes sells their cams with a guarantee of a no lobe failure on break in, but theres stipulations big time!!. So I guess Ill just do some digging.
I should have bought the schubeks a few years ago when I had the chance.
and 95% of lifter failures is DIRT - lifters not rotating in the bores.
