Looking for any tips on restoring this panel. I know there are replacements but I'd really like to use my originals.

1. The woodgrain has come off in a few places so touching that up may be impossible. Thought of getting some stain pens and going that route.
2. For the lettering I'm thinking of silk screening but haven't found the correct font yet. Any idea what that may be?

Maybe the best thing to do would be to send it to someone that restores these but haven't ran across anyone yet.

Thanks in advance

Do you have before and after pics? I spoke with David and he wasn't sure about what could be done about the wood grain. Maybe I should call and speak to him again in case of a misunderstanding of what needed to be done.

Thanks for the reply.

There were years ago stickers that went over the old wood grain and lettering too but I would just get the new ones from Performance Car Graphics . They are very nice . I would not use the ones from PG Classics unless its a cheaper restoration .

Yes I hear they are great pieces but I'd really like to try and restore the originals. If I can't do it I'll go to plan B which is purchase a set from Dave. The gauge panel has only a couple of minor issues and at this point, I just can't see setting them aside without trying.

I bought a set of 6 Rejuvenate Wood Furniture & Floor Repair Markers to help mask some of the blemishes that were in my original.

I think it requires some experimentation

I didn't like the old stickers. They just never looked right to me. I'd use a worn original before those.

What's the difference between the Performance Car Graphics pieces and the PG Classics ones?

I used PG Classics on my 70 'Cuda and loved them. (This was many years ago when that piece first came out.) They were shipped flat and I had to bend the curve myself (by laying it over the old scuffed originals if I recall correctly).

PG Classic ones are ok for a driver but the PCG ones are much more OEM looking . I used the stickers before and they actually look nice if done correctly . I posted pics years ago of a set I did .

Well after careful consideration at all available options and a little trial and error, I decided to go with Dave at PCG. I ordered the complete panels he makes. They will ship already bent so should be ready to be installed onto black bezel.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Chet
