Just going by all the hype on the net. Even the announcer at Maple Grove started out the morning saying how this was going to be a great East vs West showdown. (obvisouly that didn't happen.) Just curious what was the payout at Fontana?
The only money up for grabs at Fontana was the Mopar purse. We have put on, for 2 years now, hemi shootout races at Mission with some good sized purses and couldn't get anyone to travel west. So, it's hard to go to the sponsors and ask for more. By the way, part of the purse at Maple Grove was put up by our team. I think we were the biggest contingency sponsor.
We were scheduled to be there. Like I said, and has been reported in numerous places on the net, we had engine damage and my Dad got very sick. Just didn't work out this time. It will really hurt us come Indy entry time next year as this race was in our planned 5 grade point events. Looks like we'll end the year with 4.

Was at Maple Grove today and I would have to say the east coast hemi cars are the ones to beat. If 45,000 in cash and prizes doesn't entice the west coast boys than there's only one conclusion. (runnin scared) I also believe Hess will have a chance to back his record breaking run on Sun. If he decides to stay.
Yea, we're real scared. We've been to Belle Rose the last 3 years, Indy each year. How many thousands of miles and dollars in expense is that to come race? There was a Mopar Hemi Challenge race in Fontana last month. We didn't see any east coast cars there...I don't think we've seen an east coast car out here in years. I keep forgetting how the freeways only go one way. Crap happens, life happens, drag racing doesn't always take priority.
Hey Julie how is your dad feeling, and before he got sick did he get a chance to tear down the hurt motor. Are you going to Vegas or Pomona, if so I will stop in and say Hi.
