Thinking of getting a rear end set up for my car. Is the rear end pinion centered or offset?

The pinion is offset 1 3/16" toward the passenger side on all A,B,C and E body Mopars. The engine, transmission and driveshaft tunnel is also offset.

This^^^^

Depending on what you are building
an 8.75 will have equal length axles
D60 will have the drivers side 1 3/8" long than pass side.

Dr Diff has a really nice calculator on his site.

Many THINK the pinion is centered on an 8.75 because the axles are same length, but not the case. As covered NO Mopar pass car rear comes from the factory with a centered pinion. The motors are moved over to clear steering usually, so the entire driveline follows suit

Moving the motor over also offsets some of the weight of the driver, steering box and column, etc.

Chrysler offset,A and B body start at the front of the engine crank centerline 2" to the passenger side,1-5/8 at the trans tailshaft and 1-3/16 at the pinion centerline. These are + and- measurements since the motor, trans mounts as well as the spring perches have wiggle room. This was as mentioned for steering and pedal room. This is what you deal with for stock and backhalf cars. When building a chassis put everything on centerline

There are some good working fabricated cars out there with the driveline C/L moved over 1" to 2". Just saying.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

The driveline in my Scamp is offset 1/2" to the right.
