How challenging is putting the classic Sweptline body on a 2001 Ram 2500 extended cab, diesel, 2wd, auto trans?

I seen it done on a 93- and it wasnt bad at all, jamie from passon transmissions has one done this way... Im leaving my sweptline on its original frame..

I have seen 00+ rams with the bodies removed, I cant picture it being too easy...

Wheelbases are a bit different. The Sweptline is 128. The late model frame is not as simple as the Sweptline, either.

Sweptline crew cab long beds are said to fit on extended cab frames. There are many pictures on the web of that conversion.

I saw a Sweptline on a modern chassis in a Mopar mag (can't remember which one) a few years ago. They made it seem like it was not too big of a deal. I suppose that is always the case depending on your skill levels and $$

The Sweptline short box bodies fit well on the 73-93 short box frames, I've done that.
Fitting a standard cab onto an expended cab frame has its own set of challenges, now add the complex nature of at least 3 major frame changes between the cab and the chassis, and it could be fairly easy, or really hard!
The wheel base being the same would help, but also needing consideration is the relationship between where the body sits on the frame, how the front wheel wells match up, and how the motor sits in relation to the firewall. Most of the older trucks have a short nose, the firewall sits closer to the front of the truck, then most of the newer stuff.
I suggest you park the two trucks side by side and compare. It may be so close it looks like they intended it to be, or it may be so far off it will be really hard to do. Gene
