On a pump gas motor 10:1 what would be the difference in 90 octane straight gas to 93 10% etholnol . Would a octane booster be needed to bring up the 90?
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

No...remember that ethanol is higher octane than the gas itself... the only difference is the amount of fuel that would be consumed..if it was E-85 it takes 30% more to bring it up to the same BTU

He's talking about just 10% ethanol. A lot of gas already has this level of ethanol. That's just normal gas.
If I had a tune for 93 octane, but found myself having to put in something like 89 octane, then yes, an octane booster is better than nothing. If the booster is supposed to approximate 100, then 93 should be easy. If you still get pinging, get a different booster. I know what he is talking about... he needs NOTHING to equal 90 octane
