They know damn well this could happen with the power they're using. Brian took responsibility and obviously felt terrible. It's bad enough yard selling your own junk let alone taking someone else's to.

It seemed the ER crew had already checked him out then cameras came back to pick up the scene, cuz who woulda known if he shoulda even been touched in case he had a broken neck or back. that was a heart felt moment to see him get ut of that car.

Based merely on the personas on the show I think you might find less than half of the OK guys willing to do what Chief did.

ER crew? ER's (emergency rooms) are in hospitals

Firefighters and EMS personnel are the ones saving your ass on the street and at the track.

The infield care center and the hospitals get you long after we do.

Great guy for sure, I've noticed it since the very first episode of Street Outlaws. I'm sure they're all great guys, all the money and stress can make it appear otherwise sometimes but I bet they're all pretty fun to be around.

The crash was way more violent than I thought it would be...from seeing pics of it for months and now finally seeing the whole video.

Pretty cool seeing the racers from Detroit sporting Chris Tuten racing windshield banners from South Carolina.

iagree Me too. I knew it was coming and it was still shocking to me. I've never really been shocked on "reality" tv with something that I knew was coming.
I feel for him on losing his first car. I know I would be pretty bummed if I crashed my car like that, and I haven't had it nearly as long and it's not nearly as nice.

After such a violent crash, I was in awe as I watched Chief climb out of the car and walk on his own. Amazing.

He is lucky it didn't break his back, the way the seat was mounted.

If you have a single layer seat, be it carbon OR aluminum and just have a spacer with a bolt through it, to space the seat off the hoop, you are taking your life in your hands. The seat will "fold" around that spacer and then you have a spear pointed at your back. You either need a big flat piece of plate to distribute the force to a larger area, or build a tubing frame to contain the seat. The latter is how I support the back of all carbon seats

I learned a valuable lesson from a freind of mine who had hit the guard rail just pass the finish at the old Speed World track in AZ, he popped a freeze plug out of the back of the passenger side head at 175 MPH and did a hard left turn into the left guradrail and then across to the other side and then endowing and flipping the car several times before it stop. He had tighten the harness up as tight as he could before doing the burn out and he walked away from that with no broken bones or torn muscles or ligaments work I now try(since 1997) to make sure and do the same thing before every run thumbs
Bill Bagshaw told me the same thing about being bruise and having very sore crotch from one of his crashes at speeds back in the 1970 and 1980s, always tighten all the restraining straps holding you in the car so you can't be toss forwards or sideways into the straps, you want to stay in the harnesses and let them hold you in place, not slipping, sliding and bouncing around in them work

Didn't something similar happen in Goliath when it wrecked at the Amarillo no prep race? I thought I remember the seat mount being broken on his car too.

Dave's rear seat mount broke off. Chief's did not break, it just folded the seat around that spacer and bolt.

But Dave's rear mount breaking off is not a big deal anyway. The seat mounts do NOT hold the seat in the car, the belts do. We mount most carbon seats with Dzus fasteners and they won't hold the seat in for sure, but the belts do.
