63 Dodge Polara with a broken speedometer cable. Do I need to buy the whole cable with housing? Can just the cable inside the housing be pulled out of this style housing and replaced separately? If so I cannot seem to find anybody that sells only the cable. Thanks for any help.

The local parts stores carry the core in make it yourself style. You cut to length and attach an end piece that comes with it as does the tool to attach the end. Be sure you tape around the core when you cut it to keep it from fraying. It's pretty simple if you follow the instructions.

Easy to replace.Did the one in my 65.Early Mopars used the odd speedo gear setup. As said Advance etc have inners.Use a sharp chisel and one quick hit and its cut.Make sure the end gets a good crimp when installed.I have an old piec of rail i use.Rocky

You need to find out why the original is broken, soemtimes the inner lining on the housing rubs through chafing the cable breaking it scope I would remove it so yoou can look at it real hard and then if it is okay clean the inside as good as you can to get rid of the old grease and any debris that may be in there scope

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
