I'm looking to hire someone in the Los Angeles area to get my 73 charger running again. It sounded like something locked up in the engine. I feel it is connected to the knocking sound in the attached video clip. The clip was recorded 5 minutes before it "locked up". The sound had gotten worse over the last week or so before the incident. http://sendvid.com/vsf86p2r
1973 Dodge Charger SE 400 automatic transmission. Curb weight: 3800 lbs. All stock so far.
Goal: Reliable everday driveable warmed up 400 as close to 400hp as possible, then a 470 stroker if need be.

Sounds like a rod. And what to you mean by locked up? Won't even turn over?

Sounds like a rod. And what to you mean by locked up? Won't even turn over? It was recently repaired for some bend push rods so I wouldn't be suprised if there was more. I'm not sure if the starter is turning the engine over definitely don't sound right.

I tried to start it again now that its been a few hours. And the engine acually started up but it sounds like a diesel engine if that makes any sense lots of ticking.

One moment the needle was in the middle the next it was all the way down. I didn't pay too much attention to it since several of my gauge don't work (fuel, odometer and clock).

Bent pushrods usually is over revving assuming you have the stock valve springs. Oil pressure dropping low or zero the recovering means your either:
1. running low on oil 2. oil pump failing
Either way I'm betting you have a spun rod bearing.

as you know oil psi is just like blood pressure, you gotta have it. I would pull the dist & intergear & drill prime the pump with a 5/16 hex rod & see what develops for pressure

Either way I'm betting you have a spun rod bearing. That sounds expensive. I have not been reving the engine, been accelerating slow since most parts on the car are still old. Oil change was about 60 miles ago maybe a month or two.

It is. Drain the oil into a clean container. Then run a magnet through it to see what it picks up.

If it bent another pushrod and tossed a lifter out of a bore then you will not have oil pressure.
Your description makes me think it's a bad or broken rod too. Don't touch that ignition key again.
In all probability, it's time for that motor to come out.

Yes, I'll definitely have it towed somewhere, this is more than I want to mess with. I'm beginning to think this was the problem I experienced in this thread https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/2080459/1.htmlIt just coincided with the car wash so I thought it was an eletrical issue.

If it's this, what price range approximately am I looking at? If it's the other scenario what price range would that be?

Fixing it the cheap way - less than $1000 if you can find someone willing to do it.
The right way will be over $2000 if you are paying someone. You mean if it's a rod bearing issue and not just a push rod?

If it bent a pushrod again you really need to figure out why it has developed such an appetite.
The quick fix could be relatively inexpensive.
However, when we get to the bottom end banging, you're talking pulling the engine and going for either a rebuild or replacement. Figure a couple grand to be a starting point and add labor.
