The wife's 440 Six Pack engine is getting assembled so it's time to pick a camshaft and torque converter.

I want this be a mild but decent running street car that the wife can comfortably drive around town and if the mood strikes take it on the highway for a few hour drive to cruise ins, shows etc.
Need good low and mid range power and decent vacuum.
Very slight, choppy idle OK no major high lift/duration thumping cams wanted.

Car will have Hooker 2 7/8" headers with full 2 1/2" exhaust with quiet mufflers.

Transmission is automatic, I still need to get a converter for it once I pick a camshaft.

I have a number of 8 3/4 center sections to choose from, I'm going to start with 3.23 but also have 3.55 and 3.73 but I don't plan on using the 3.73 center section for this build.

Engine is a stock bore, low mile 1968 that looked real nice inside.

Bores cleaned up real nice with a hone and we are re-using the original stock rotating assembly with new bearings ,rings etc.

Heads are Edelbrock 84cc with just a slight clean up of the ports.
I'm thinking 9.75-10.1 compression?

Six Pack setup is stock.

Again this needs to be a mild build with decent idle and excellent street manners but I would like to take advantage of the higher compression and the better flow from the Edelbrock heads.

From the lift and duration specs and cam choices I've researched I'm looking at Comp Cam's XE268H, XE274H and Lunati's 60602 but I'm open for suggestions.

Any other advice or cam choices?

What torque converter should I consider?

Thanks.

You need to get hold of Mr Sixpack - everything I have heard is that his are the best.

If you go with Lunati I agree on the 60602 choice, based on your stated goals. I run the 60603 in an aluminum headed 10.2:1 440. 4 speed, 3.55 gears. Vacuum is about 11-12" @750, just enough for power brakes. Power band comes on strong at 2000 and continues north of 6000.
