After more than 2 years I`m heading to Irwindale for some therapy and hopefully a new best and boot. Between a good friend being murdered, several deaths and relocating my whole life to Vegas and that mess I`m back to MY time..............Any guesses? Recap; lost 125+ lbs, added the 25" ft. Caltrac segment, located shocks straight up n down, added sliders and am on a real 28x10.5 w slick from the Hoosier QTP street meats............

Growing up my home track was Atco...regularly sea level DA or below...definitely produced some hero numbers there.

That is why you are taking the baby steps out of the hole and seeing how it behaves leading up to an all out charge on the 1/4. Just make it a habit to go under and above to point check stuff.

Since you still have not hit that 9.59 in the quarter i estimated years ago,im going to say that you will do a 6.09 this time at the track,have fun and keep the shiny side up:)

I really think my original 3200+ lb 9.79 would of been a 69 based on the super lean carb at wfo and other issues but we`ll never know. Again, this roller motor has never seen a slick so that alone MAY help and my friend went 1.24 on these compared to a 1.34 on QTP`s so who knows but now I need to run well just so I don`t let you guys down..........

Lets remember that a few cob webs need to be cleared and the moving parts have to also go through the paces on a shake down or two. But it nets you a 6.09 or better right out of the gate, kudos and a salute to you.

What rear-end gear did you end up going with?

Stayed w/4.10`s but now have a shorter 28" tire............

My biggest issue is I don't have the safety gear to be in the 9`s so I have to make it count by getting some 60 ft and 330 data then let it rip and get the boot. Was offered $21,000 for my car a few weeks ago and said no so may as well cage it and make it legit OR sell it and buy a bad azz chassis already done then build another motor...........money`s tight so not sure but we`ll see how tomorrow goes............

How do you think the weather and track conditions will compare to your previous best?

Thankxxx.............calling for a high of 75 lows in the 50`s after the sun sets w/15-20 mph winds and 20% chance of rain after 11:00 pm...........

Between losing the weight, working on the chassis, shorter tire and I'm sure additional tuning it should be faster. Temperature, humidity, barometer and DA could help or hurt the ET/MPH. If the weather conditions are similar I'll say 6.09-6.11. Even if it doesn't pick up anything, that thing is still very impressive and you should be proud of yourself and your car. Out of curiosity how fast was this combo when you first put it together?

At 3200+ lbs. it went 6.21 in the 1/8th on my 9.79 pass. Now maybe I didn't make myself clear but my 6.20 111.7 in the summer heat 2 years ago was w/the car lighter and w/out the 2nd battery I ran on my 9.79 but not the shock change to a more vertical position.........

My experience with the Shocks got way more aggressive straight up and down..

I was three or four clicks Less to get the car to plant the tire after relocating the shocks.. and everybody should keep in mind this is basically a no prep test and tune street legal truck.. they put VHT on it one time at 4:30 in the afternoon. And that's it

I lost my brakes once..thank GOD it was on a 1/8 mile pass
but even then I rolled the last turn off at about 30 MPH and
ran off into the weeds... there were people on the return road
that thought I was some A$$ hole being STUPID.. they had a few
words to say..until I told them... sorry.. lost my brakes..
that was the only time that I didnt pull the safety pin on
my chute... I hit the chute lever and NOTHING... but that was
a scary ride for a bit.. I was racing a young lady in the other
lane and when I started going back and forth to scrub off speed
she figured there was a problem and she got out of my way and
I used both lanes to scrub off speed.. thanks to her for getting
out of the way... I was doing over 120 when I hit the brakes
for the first time

LOL... I tried to make that track as long as possible before
I hit that last turn off.. and it was a TIGHT 180 turn... yes
she was a savvy lady(and good looking)..I went and thanked
her after I got back to my pit spot... she said she didnt
understand why I was going back and forth but she figured she
would get the hell out of the way... when I told what happened
she understood why I was zig-zagging

This 1/8 th mile track is in a shared parking lot w/a NASCAR track and has a very short shut down w/no grass but a concrete barrier so if you cant stop your car is junk. Next time I post will be AFTER I get back not a before post and hopefully SOON if not, then at the end of the year after the heat spell. Sixpackgut and I were talking last night about how Eddy(Elvis)Miller kept posting on here about getting his 7-second pass at Drag Week and that it took 3 years to finally happen so hey, I`ve still got almost a year.............

The track was freshly scraped lot of guys got a new best unfortunately. You couldn't have made it next week should be outstanding as well

DAMN, That`s not what I wanted to hear but promising for next week at least...........
