What's the best way to get the chrome trim off a 73 charger without damage? I have the following tool

http://www.lislecorp.com/divisions/products/?product=196&division=1&category=12

I can slide it between the window and trim until i hit the clip what's the correct procedure from here, which way do I pull. Also how do I get them back on?

1973 Dodge Charger SE 400 automatic transmission. Curb weight: 3800 lbs. All stock so far. Goal: Reliable everday driveable warmed up 400 as close to 400hp as possible, then a 470 stroker if need be. Don't protect a feminist when the collapse comes!

Do you mean the windshield trim?

Not to say that what you have won't work, but this is what I use.

You want to get the tool under the trim and along the side of the clip and pry the clip towards the center of the windshield to release. As long as the clips are not damaged, the trim should snap right back on.

Basically all the trim on a 73 charger se with vinyl top. So I'm also asking about the trim around the vinyl top and the wheel wells. Great info about the window trim. My tool is like a plier that wraps around the clip. So pull towards the middle of the window, does that go for all of the clips (sides/top)?

not sure if 65 dart is the same type as yours but it was not fun. If I had to do it again I would take the tool to a junkyard & practice on a junker

I completely restored a '74 SE about 10 years ago, and I remember that the vinyl roof clips are plastic and snap into little metal studs welded to the roof and sail panels. The molded plastic clips themselves have little "antennas" that hold one side of the trim in, and the other side snaps down over the beefy part of the plastic clip. The clips tend to get brittle and the antennas break, and I would be VERY surprised if you could remove them without breaking most of them. IIRC, I just pried them off with a little plastic trim tool so as not to bend up the roof trim, which is aluminum. I think I hoarded an extra set of plastic clips from when I restored mine, so I will check to see if I still have them.

I don't remember much about the wheel molding and rocker clips on mine, since I removed them and restored the car without them. Only the back window clips come out the same way as the windshield clips. Everything else uses plastic clips.

Do you remember which way to pull on the vinyl trim to get it off?

Would you happen to know how to get the round SE emblems and the opera windows off? I had this huge pdf manual for the 73 charger but I can't find it. I remember I saw a diagram of the opera window assembly in it. If someone could point to that manual that would be great.
