All of what I have seen are homemade.. the most efficient one will have the carb at close to 3/4" below the bottom of the scoop inlet.. if you can.. add in a ideal entry(thats a volocity stack) EDIT You can see the height of my scoop.. thats not even on a tunnel ram.. thats a tall single 1050 with a ideal entry on it.. the carb itself is about 3" lower than the bottom of the scoop

Begin by calculating the scoop area, which will be smaller as the car gets faster. Yes, I said smaller. http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,13396.0.html The, as much interior volume as practical. Ideally, the carb air horns are in still air.

The clear scoops are to see the arm drop or flashlight during street racing, There is no other reason for them. They certainly are not more efficient.
This is the scoop I just installed on my Coronet, the rear is completely open to the windshield and cowl, and I have 3"x9 Dia K&N filters on the carbs still have another inch above the filter and the scoop is 8" max above hood surface.

That scoop looks good Modelmaker.
Wedgeman, if you do a search on Yellowbullet there is info there on who makes/sells the clear scoops and why they use them.

Hopefully DusterDave will see this thread, he had a large Hilborn scoop on his blown Hemi that had a big flat filter in the bottom of it.

Duster Dave used the Unifilter he persuaded into the scoop. With these scoops the filters hold the scoop to the carbs.
HEMI-ITIS has no cure. My condition is fully BLOWN!!

I had the scoop that BDS sold at the time. It didn't have any provision for a filter, so I had to fab something that held a flat K&N filter. It was OK for driving around town, but at the track, I removed it. hemi-itis has the newer style BDS scoop, where they increased the size so it could hold a pair of round filters.
