i am going to look at and hopefully buy a 94 360 magnum motor and tranny combo for my truck project thursday. My plan is to hopefully be able to keep the short block stock and have the heads reworked and add a intake and cam. Is there anyway to check over the short block internals for wear? i am gonna try and get the guy to do a compression check on it before he pulls it. I have test indicators and telescopic gauges and calipers, gonna check the bore size and crank endplay, is there other checks i can do to see how solid the bottom end is? The motor has about 100,000 miles on it and ran off propane alot of its life, any help or suggestions would be great, i am new to engine builds and what not, i know its not really a race engine question but i heard this is the forum where all the enigne builders are

At 100K in milage you are going to be looking
at a rebuild anyway. I don't know about the
newer motors, but propane in some older motors
Pre 80's would burn up valve guides.

If it is priced fair for a core motor you should
be fine.
