So the 360 I had built for my 87 D150 ended up being sold to a good friend of mine that blew up his 408 in his 74 Duster. Now I have done inventory on what I have left over as far as engines and components. Here's my plan.Use my 1990 318,Whiplash 318 hydraulic roller cam, speedmaster aluminum heads(that never made it on the 360),Edelbrock Performer RPM intake,650 Thunder series AVS,msd distributor and 6a box, hedman long tubes,Summit 2800-3000 converter,727 trans,3:55 SG.I do have a Boss Hog 12"2200-2800 converter I could use in place of the 11" summit piece. The heads have 65cc chambers and 2.02/1.60 valves so i'm not sure what kind of compression it'll have?

the speed master heads on the teen? no help here from me. But...

I run a 90 318 with the whiplash roller cam #302 closed chamber heads 1.78/1.50 valves and it is a awesome little 318 for my 85 stepside truck in daily traffic.

90-318 #302 heads
holley street dominator intake/holley 6211 650cfm spredbore double pumper
whiplash roller cam
hedman headers/2.5 duels with 2 chamber muffs turned out at steps
nv4500 5 speed
9 1/4 - 3.55 locker
29x11x15

little screamer knocking back 18 mpgs

building a

88 - 318 #308/360 heads 1.88/1.60 valves home pocket port/clean up.
5.9 whiplash roller cam
headers duels
PTC 2400 TC 727-crt VB-TF2 shift kit
3.91sg
no tire size yet.

I looked at the SM alum heads but was thinking made in china...need more comp/pistons ect.

so went with the #308 360 head since I found a set that was not cracked.

My 318 has the 714 swirl ports so I guess that will be o.k.Yeah your set up is probably what I'll copy(sorry)! Except I want to use my Streetmaster intake with the 650 Thunder series carb.

copy? if it works, it works. I don't have any problem with what works. LOL!

#714 are later cast IIRC. still the same as a #302 closed chamber swirl port head.

I be interested it how that intake combo works out. as in is it better mpg only or what kind of performance it has compaired to the HSD or LD4B I have on the shelf.

I have a SB performer RPM air-gap but have not tried it yet.

my BB 440 RPM intake work great but seemed a little much for a bone stock LOPO RV440. the 440 HSD worked much better on the street.

now with the 440 whiplash cam the street dom is a beast and I want to give the RPM a try again.

my problem seems to be getting a holly carb working with the whiplash. I used a new out of the box 2014 750cfm edelbrock performer carb with only a step up spring change...it works really good daily driving the 440 truck now.

make sure to pick up a tuning kit with the thunder carb.

I also found a chart that does the math on jetting for all possiable combos of rod/jets with the owner manual range in red/green the rest is for getting out of that range if you need too.

I dialed a big flat spot out of mine with a spring change and recurve on dist with FBO limiter plate/spring kit.

good luck and post up how the intake works.

The streetmaster is a fail unless you have a manual trans and like shifting at 2000 RPM or a very low stall converter. The plenum is way too small, the port entrance is very sharp/abrupt, the runner size is very small. I am not a fan of the SD on a SB but it is a lot better than the streetmaster. If you just have to use the streetmaster at least round off the plenum to runner area a lot and open the port face to at least match the 318 ports in the heads(it is smaller).

No worries there.I have a performer intake I can use instead of the SM.I also have a 770 street avenger carb but I think the Eddy 650 AVS will be the best choice.

I had both of those carbs on my superduper mpg 318 and the holley ran better but sucked a lot more fuel.
