After not many (50?) passes, the roller lifters spread at the end by the wheel to .9042, enough to make it tough getting some of them out of the lifter bores. So,,,,,,,, more $$$$$ . Anybody make a roller lifter similar to an EZ roll, that has the same wheel to pushrod cup dimension?

I'm certainly no expert on roller cams and lifters but it seems to me you may be experiencing other valve train issues to cause your lifters to spread in the axle retention area in 50 laps.

I would second that one. Assume you want something similar to an EZ roll because that's what you hurt. I have never hurt one and the one in the B1 had over 1000 passes with spring pressure of 1050 open. Wonder if you have a spring issue or other valvetrain malady

Here is what I was running ; Comp cams roller, .501 lobe lift,283 @ .050 and 203 @ .200 duration on the intakes, .440 lobe on the exhaust with 296 at .050 and 206 at .200. 1.55 Jesel rockers, Comp 947 triples in at 2.00 for 310 or more on the seat, 1/2 inch Manton pushrods, shifting 7100 and trap 7500 to 7600. The lifters have a pushrod cup height of 1.610 and a .800 diameter wheel. I have to admit to one time the rpms got to the rev limiter in the burnout, set at 7800. Other than that, been running this cam for some time and have had to rebuild other lifters in the past, but it was the bearings in the wheels, not a spreading issue.

You were thinking of going to the 1.7 rockers anyway.
Maybe consider doing that and then dumbing down the intake lobe a little.

Any of the exhaust lobe lifters show any signs of spreading?

You have isky red zones with EZ roll option now?

Some of the exhaust lifters were spread also. Five intakes and three exhausts. I have Comp Cams lifters now, not the EZroll. I could send in the cam I have, and have it ground for a bit less radical lobe to match the 1.7 rockers. Anyone know what the pushrod cup to bottom of the lifter roller is on the EZroll lifters?

I had Comp 892. Isky Red zone has a direct fit replacement. They offer several cup depths. I went to the bushed type Fit perfect with original pushrods.

Doug, I hope the 892s are the same dimensions as mine, that would save me a bunch by not having to buy new pushrods.

.500" lobe is a serious lobe. Did you have enough spring pressure for that lobe?

I'd definitely give Isky a call.

I had 947 triple springs ,listed as 332 lbs at 2.00 IH I believe. In at 2.000 . Isky will be getting a call.

The old 892 with the low tie bar and the newer style with the raised tie bar have the same cup depth. The Isky is dead on. For what it's worth mine runs a .470 lobe with 1.7 T&D, #310/#815 @1.950" My Comps went 150 passes before one had a needle bearing that was loose (.007" extra lash in 25 passes).

Just go key way and be done with it. It's a little money up front, but can save lots in the long run.

IMO I agree just call Isky and get some lifters. They offer a number of cup depths and will likely have what you need. My junk was also .500 lobe on the intake side. Sounds like maybe you got junk lifters, not a fan of the Comp stuff for anything making power for sure. I would still check those springs pressures and make sure you have enough spring.

No need for a keyway deal for sure. Little money might be an understatement, $2500 for the lifters, $1000 for the bushings, plus the machine work which will require engine disassembly. Looking at $4500 upgrade there. Just sayin...

How about to much valve lash? could that pound out the needle bearings?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Is it that much? I didn't think I had that much money tied up in mine. If they are that much, my bad.
