Yeah I did a long rod 400 motor a few years back. Worked great. But the Mopar rods aren't very popular anymore, most everyone has switched over to the 2.200 rod journal since the rods are cheaper and there are more bearing choices. I have access to a set of good hemi aluminum rods and I was looking at my options. I might also have a line on a good 4.15 stroke crank, not sure on that yet.

If you go with the 6.86 rod, will it have a .990 pin in them? That leaves options open if you ever hurt it. If you end up with a Mopar pin size, there won't be any shelf stock parts to fix it most likely, and that means waiting for custom parts. If this is a moderate performance build, and savings is substantial, I would go for it. Not much in savings on parts, I would opt for a BBC rod/stroker combo.

Hemi rods have different pin size that stad wedge rods . what pin size are the rods ?

Rods can be bored( honed)out to the size you need, BM, all, said very easy to do on aluminum, the aftermarket steel, not to easy, no meat up there. They will get the stock TRW type pistons out of the hole though. $300 vs $800 set, could save some change.

Has anybody used the hemi rod length in a wedge build?
I haven't found much on this other than a 4.15 stroke 494ci build in Hot Rod magazine in 1999.
Thanks! I'm using a 3.75 crank with a 6.965 rod and 1.12 CH pistons. Just because had parts laying around. S/F....Ken M
