Sorry forgot to mention I'm not going to use the pick up or the dipstick my plan is to modify the steel pan to a dry sump pan by welding in -12 AN bungs and possibly save $300 I'm gonna use a rear sump since it'll clear an AlterKation but just not sure if it'll clear my 4.5 stroke thanks

Why not just get a proper dry sump type pan??? Plenty of HP can be found in the right oil pan.

I can easily add baffles for oil control and combined with a crank scraper and with the bungs welded in the right postion, I'm guessing it will function just as good as a fancy fabricated pan also I'll feel better with the strength of steel vs. aluminum under a street car driving over potholes and what not finally I'll only spend about $100 bucks into the experiment and if it all goes wrong, I'll get a proper dry sump pan
