I just started up my Roadrunner after about 4 months of it sitting while replacing the camshaft and some other stuff. Any way while I was breaking in the camshaft had it running for about 10 minutes at about 2200 rmps and all of a sudden it shot oil out of the power steering breather hole in the filler cap. So I turned it off and looked inside the pump and you could see the oil so hot it was boiling. What do you think is going on? Did I put to much tension on the power steering belt whn I put it back together or is there something else I need to look at? It was working just fine before I parked it.
Thanks!
Dave

It wasnt filled to the top and yes it was boiling not air bubbles. I never moved the steeing wheel at all while I was running the car breaking in the cam. It boiled over about 8 minutes into the start up it was running about 2200 rpms

I'm betting on a hose blockage...

I went and put the V belt back on the pump and added the missing oil that squirted out of the cap when it got hot and started up the engine and tryed the steering and all is normal? I checked the hoses and there are no restrictions. I wonder if having it at the rpms at around 2200 to 2500 for a long time with out moving the steering wheel made the oil get hot cause it did not circulate?

Doesn't PS fluid always circulate some even when the wheel is straight ahead?

We usually run Dextron II instead of power steering fluid. Dextron handles heat much better..

Just my $0.02..
