I own 1968 dodge charger with factory bendix disc brakes. I had my pair of front disc brake calipers repaired with staainless sleeve inserts installed. I had new pistons and new seals installed. I find using dot 5 silicone brake fluid the calipers leak around the seals. I can tell when I find the stopping the car is getting slower because of silicone fluid on the rotors. Anyone out there have similar problem ? Any one got idea how to fix ? should I replace silicone brake fluid with plain brake fluid? Bob H. 708 687 1187

Many people have successfully used the DOT 5. I would call the shop that did them & see how they want to handle it & if they rebuilt em & you installed em then I'd take em off & back to them for them to check em out

Already said, but ditto... I have a total of 24 pistons on the brake system on my Torana with dot 5 and doesn't leak a drop.

If you are able I would take the calipers apart, inspect, clean and reassemble. If they still leak time to send them back. Do not let them tell you that you cant run dot5 in the early bendix calipers. I do know that getting the seals to do their job can be a pain, I had a similar problem with my gtx many years ago.

Have you verified that its leaking around the seals? Not where the flex line goes into the caliper? Is it leaking on both sides or one? I find it hard to see if both sides are leaking. If so, bad job was done. I don't think its that hard to just get rebuilt calipers from an auto store. Dot5 should be ok to use as others have mentioned.

I have the four piston Bendix system on my 69 Road Runner. I too have had some issues with leaks. Like yours, my calipers were repaired and rebuilt with stainless liners. I ended up disassembling the calipers and replacing a couple of the seals with a couple of used seals that were in very good condition. Seems to have worked for the part of the year I last drove the car. But I haven't driven my car in two years to know for sure.
