How big of a tire can be fitted on a -68 barracuda without streching the opening front and back?
Springs moved in 1/2".
Got 255/60 15 now but want something taller to get that hemicuda look.
Thinking 255/70 15 but theyre almost 2" taller not sure it will fit.
Please share your thoughts and suggestions.
Thanks

Yep, a 28" tire is about it.

A 28" is VERY close to the front on mine and rubs a little on the fender well on the outer side.

I run a 275/50 though with no problems. If my car was a race car I could get away with a 275/60 but with as low as it sits and since I drive it on drag week loaded with crap I need the shorter tire.

Stock width 8.75 with a 3 5/8 back space wheel.

This pic is with the 275/50 I am looking for a pic with 275/60s

This was with the MT 275/60/15 Pro Radial. Looked good but hit on a bump up inside the fender. I need to raise the car up.

I do not know why the pic shows up at this angle.

Thanks alot!
Looks like the mt 275s are a hair bigger than other 275s.
Ill probably go with one set for the street and another for the track.
Ive used threaded race tires before on the street and not very happy with how they drive and how they wear.
But now i know witch size to use.
Thanks again

I can fit a 275/60 on my 68 fish also.

What brand/model is that wheel?

I'm running a MT 28x10.5 on my 1968 but that's a slick not street tire.

Just mounted a set of the new MT Pro Bracket 28x10.5 radial slicks today and they also fit.

Stock length 8 3/4, stock spring location. I am running 1/2" spacer on the driver side and 3/8 on the passenger side because they were rubbing the Cal-track mono leaf spring.

It is a Holeshot brand Holestar wheel on the rear. I have Billet Specialties Street Lights on the front. The holeshots are very light and the fronts got some cracks in them so I had to move to an actual street rated wheel(only 2 lbs heavier).
