Im all new to the Mopar family, I and son attempting to restore 1968 coronet. We like the rallye gages better than the standard that are in the car. My question is, can I interchange these in the dash and will the wiring harnesses work?

Also needing front fenders, in classic industries catalog they sell a 1968 b-body Plymouth front fenders, will these fit correctly on my 1968 coronet?
Thank you

Well first off welcome to the board. 72 views and no replies so I'll give you my 2cents and maybe some b body guys will chime in.I'm sure your gonna hafta change and or modify the harness for the cluster. I would start with factory wiring diagrams to see how major the differences are you some times need to change things like oil and temp sensors also. I have done e body swaps in the past but no b bodies. As for the fenders I don't think they are gonna work. Hope this helps. There's a lot of goodand knowledgeable people here so don't b afraid to ask and check the tech archives for some of the info you need may be there. Again welcome and bump to the top.
Dan

Hello and welcome, first you will have to get a different dash frame to be able to install rallye gauges. I would recommend that you buy a complete new dash wiring harness. The plymouth fenders will not work. There is a very good all Mopar car show and swap in Farmington, MN on June 4th called Mopars in the Park. Byron from Bismarck has a very nice set of fenders and I am sure he would bring them to the show if you want. He is a very good guy and if you PM me I can give you his number

as stated the steel dash frame is different. (as are lower dash pads)
each year b-body frame 1968, '69, '70 is different as are frames for A/C cars. (if you are concerned with using the '68 pads, ignition switch, bits & pieces)

you need a '68 "rallye dash" frame from a Charger & Super Bee (STANDARD) or Coronet R/T (OPTIONAL)

As stated above you'll need a different dash frame. And this link is to the absolute best gauge setup available.

As stated on the dash. Plymouth fenders won't work on your Coronet due to the rest of the nose, different styling & contours. Also, every model year differs at least in side marker & for '70, front of fender. But any '68 Coronet fender would work regardless of body style.
There are other differences between the Coronet & Belvedere bodies, including wheelbase (Dodge 1" longer) and all the obvious body & trim parts, but many things (most mechanical/electrical & much inner structure) will interchange.

welcome to the board ! now you know where to come waste time instead of working on your car ! biggrin since you know now what it takes to swap dash clusters, it is apparent you are modifying your car to suit your needs and wants instead of "restoring" it to factory specs. with that being said, have you considered a "hot rod" style dash, meaning get a gage set you like from the aftermarket and make [or have made] a dash insert face plate to fit your existing dash ? odds are it will be cheaper by far than replacing the frame and getting a ralley cluster that may, or may not, need restoring to operate correctly. restoration of these clusters may, or may not, be in your budget plan. then there is the wiring harness needed. the "hot rod" gage harness will be super simple and cheap to fab up compared to the cost of a ralley dash harness. again, not knowing your budget or what you have to start with. just throwing out something to think about. it's your car, and you need to do what will make YOU happy, not what someone else thinks or want you to do. above all, have fun with your project and keep us in the loop progress wise !
