Car is a 67 RT with a 440
Mostly stock wiring except planning on changing out stock alternator for 70's style setup. I have a new harness but it seems very strange to me. I am a newbie when it comes to automotive electrical. Below you will see the harness plug showing wiring colors and locations and also the wiring diagram I have for the car. When looking at the plug vs the diagram, do you see anything weird about the wiring?

If looking at the diagram and matching the colors on the plug, it appears to me that one side of the plug is N P Q R(bottom row of middle plug) and the other side is V U T S(top row of bottom plug)

Does this make sense? Am I looking at something the wrong away?

looks to be the m through r connection block, I may be missing the ? KQ colors look dif but I cant see chart and some variation may be if aftermarket key thing is they lead were they need to and pin position is correct for mating with other connecter and where it leads.

The only thing I see different is pin "K". It shows that as being a Violet/Tracer in the diagram while yours appears to be Gray. That lead goes to the brake failure warning light switch in the engine compartment and the warning light in the dash. The Gray wire appears to be a pretty heavy gauge for a warning light.

Where did you buy that harness from?

It was purchased months ago from Evans as an engine harness with electronic ignition and square back 70's style alternator. I injured my foot and haven't been in the shop working for months so I just got around to starting on it

I will go out tomorrow and diagram what each of the wires looks like on the other end so hopefully someone can explain it further. It appears to me that it is half of the middle harness and half of the bottom harness.

Evans was quick and everything appears nice but I'm just a little confused and figured I'd go to the experts on Moparts since they have definitely proven to be knowledgable with other issues I have come across.

Evens is the second or last choice for a wiring harness. I had the same thing, wires were in the wrong locations and the terminals were crimped on the insolation and not the copper wire. Send it back to them and make them fix it.

That black with a white tracer wire looks improperly crimped.

There should be two crimp joints, one on the insulation, for strain relief, and one on the bare wire, for the electrical connection. Looks like the insulation goes into both crimps, that would be wrong.

Send it back and get the awesome m&h sourced piece from Year One. They make the electronic ign and late style vr setup like you want. Everything will look like it grew there from the factory and you will be happier with the outcome.

i originally planned to go with M&aha but when I called Year One they told me a minimum of 4-6 months lead time because M&H had been changing some tooling at their factory and was very far behind. I didn't really want to wait that long so I went with Evans. I think I can make this work but may require a few modifications to the setup to get what I need. Also, I will check all crimps and connections to verify they are solid as shown in the previous post

Later tonight I will try to determine what each wire is and see what mods will need to be done.

I used an Evans harness on one of cars. I was able to pull several crimped connections off of the wires with my fingers. It's a good idea to check the harness for the correct location of the wires and good crimped connections.

I also had quality problems with Evans.

Just bought a M&H engine harness for my 67 Coronet big block. Its ok but it is not all that close to the original. Quality is ok so far. Year One had it in stock and I got 10% off.

So I ordered a new harness from Year One and it was in stock and shipped the very next day. I ended up just getting an entire under hood setup including the forward light harness and the engine harness with electronic ignition and 70's square back alternator. It looks very nice but I have already come across my first question. These 2 plugs aren't found on my original harness and I can't seem to figure out what they go to. Thoughts?

They look like the plugs for the dual ballast resister. Ron

just looked them up using your thought and you are correct. Which now leads to the next question.....I have always been running a 2 prong ballast resistor. Can I just buy a 4 prong and switch over to that or do I need to make other changes to switch from 2 prong to 4 prong?

Should I know specifically what amazes you? Is it my beginner knowledge level or something else that was said/shown earlier in the post?!?! My current car has a 2 prong ballast resistor and every other Mopar I have owned has also had a 2 prong resistor. I have not had the depth of experience to see/work on many others so those plugs were something new to me.
