By staying high in the front, you are maintaining your weight transfer. The shock won't keep the front end up unless it is binding. That is a factor of engine torque during the run. If it is not porpoising (up and down motion) I would probably leave it alone. You can try the other shocks and compare time slips and videos, since it won't cost anything but time. Might be a good learning experience.

Try "bulldogging" the front suspension with some limiters to see the results. It may help, it may hurt. My car did the same thing. it had cheap shocks. I limited the extension travel. It helped the top end (car was much more stable) but it killed the launch. I put a decent d/a front shock on the car to stop the fast extension(and the resulting shock of the limiter) and everything improved greatly.
