No actual exp with em but I'd be more worried about the quality of the module as opposed to anything else. You could always swap in a good one, I dont see a problem with that

the 'Skip White' ones? i have one and it is actually a nice unit. i tried one cause of the price but it did have a vacuum advance so on the street it sucks. my issue, not the unit.

my only gripe was the where it fits into the oiler. to tight but since i wasn't going to use it anymore it didn't bother grinding it.

Not sure if they are the same ones, but a co-worker bought one. He had to exchange it as the pickup didn't work. Second one worked and has been running for a year now.

i have seen these at the swap meets many times and as low as 29.95. i am tempted to just buy one to dissect just to see what is inside, what the advance mechanism looks like, and what kind[quality] of bearings are used.

My biggest concern is having to need parts for it. With my luck, anything cheap will break at the worst time.

I ran one for years on my jeep and ran one on my 440. Zero problems with either of them. Both have adjustable vacuum advance as well and are ready to run with built in ignition module. The one I got for the Jeep had a built in coil on cap, the one I got for the 440 used a separate coil. IIRC the advance can be tuned with a GM HEI distributor bushing/spring kit.

The one in the jeep saw a fair amount of off-roading. I sold the jeep one after the jeep's tranmission went and I did a full motor/trans/efi swap.

I have used them in derby cars for several years no issues! Got one in a 72 charger 440 with the separate coil as well.

Then you better stick with a stock distributor. I don't change many caps or rotors in the life of the vehicle.

But isn't that like the cheapo harbor freight grinders?

Throw it away and get another brand new one.....
