Hey guys ! .....going over my 440 build and I was told to make sure I put the rods on the piston correct ..is there a way to tell ? Can the rods be backwards ?? Thanks for the help

On the 1973 440 Im rebuilding right now with LY rods, the notched side of the rod (the notch for the bearing) points towards the outside of the block. Also, the notch side of the cap bolts to the notch side of the rod.

iagreeThe little cam oiling notch in the rod cap points towards the cam. All the V8 Mopars motors I've seen and taken apart have the rods and rod caps numbered so make sure those two match also, DO NOT MIX the caps and rods up tsk IHTHs up

Been on SB for decades so can only relate that info FWIW. Eng belly up on a stand with a journal at BDC you want the stamped numbers to be toward the outside. Bearings are offset in the rod & numbers to the outside will place the actual bearings shells themselves closer to each other in each pair of installed rods.
