Best bang for the buck? .557 cam, about 12:1 with an 88cc chamber M1, 850 DP in 3300 car that needs to be as close to 10.00 as possible

i have a set of MW Stage VI heads, they needed a lot of grinding to make them user friendly. if i had my way again, i'd go for Indy SR's.

If I HAD to choose b/t those 2 heads, I'd go w/ Edelbrock. Why the open 88 cc chamber? Go w/ the closed 84 cc chamber Edelbrocks if you go that route. Better all around.
Those Stage VI heads need a ton of work to be useable and make decent power from what I've seen. After you've spent more in them than comparable Indys, the Indy head will still make more power.

My honest opinion...I had a set of Edelbrocks several years ago, then swapped them out for Indy SRs. I'd get some prepped Indys from someone like Dwayne Porter and call it done.

Agreed on all points .

The only reason to use the eddy open chamber head is because you have a shortblock with quench dome pistons from an open chamber, iron head build.

stage 6's need a lot of work, sometimes they won't even drop on the block dowels.

Talk to Dwayne ...

running up my post count some more .

I had a brand new pair of Edelbrock performer rpm's sitting in my bedroom when I found a set of brand new Stage VI heads and intake on ebay that had been fully ported for the same price as the Edelbrock's. I sent the Edelbrock's back and bought the stage VI's. At this point after running them for five years I have to say I don't think my car would be as fast with the Edelbrock's unless I put a bunch of money into them. The only thing that bothers me about the Stage VI is the wet header bolt holes.

Yep wet header bolts is a total pita. What idiot designed that system? I ended up putting a drain point on the block so if I have to pull the headers, I don't have to get baptized while I'm doing it. See tap plug behind engine mount.

I'd say you made out right well with the Stage VI heads since they require a lot of work to get going.

Does Dwayne Porter have a CNC program for them? The ones in the MP catalogs are a bit to pricey for my wallet, hence, I go slow. LOL!

I agree also as thats just what I did. I was an at home porter but I am no pro and my back wont let me bend over cyl heads for long anymore so I called Dwayne Porter and got a set of Indy EZ heads that he just did some mild work on. Bottom line is he does awesome work and he is a pro who flows his heads so he knows what works good better then most all of us. You cant go wrong buying from Dwayne and letting him do his magic on the heads. up Ron

Dwayne does not CNC heads, he hand ports them...and does some of the nicest work you'll ever see.
