I use any mini starter even the ones from small motors on 16-1 compression race motors. I crank the motor without the ignition on until it is spinning good then flip on the juice. present unit year 4 of use. cost 65.00 on sale rebuilt at AutoZone

I have heard the Robb Mc starter is the one to get for ultimate durability.

You can't beat that. Over 25 years of racing I have only replaced mini starter a few times. A couple due to a problem with a JW bell misalignment breaking the nose. The other was the worn out contact. If we didn't ck valves so much years ago it to would have lasted forever.

I have them made overseas, Denso style 17466, I have sold many thousands of them. It's a great design and even the junk yard ones are good as people are saying, the only problem with those are the contacts inside wear out and you never have any idea on how much time they have left. They work good until they don't I have run a Bosch mini for years, would get it from my local pep boys. That looks like a real good deal you have and I broke the nose off of my Bosch a while ago, doesn't seem to care it's broken.

The only parts that wear on the Denso starters are the contact/plunger faces. The kits are available online for $20 or less; four screws to replace and they are good for another 10 years. I did hundreds of them when I was in the Japanese car game.

It may be ugly, but it sure is slow.
Girls comb their hair in rear view mirrors and the boys try to look so hard....

Normally you only need to change the contact (79 cents)and clean up the plunger.
