the coil (ballast) and the ECU need to be fed in run and in crank. the starter relay would need fire from the "ST" terminal on the ign sw. switched 12V (blue wire circuit) to reg/alt. connections to water temp oil psi senders. all of the 60's std stuff. not sure how that all that basic stuff interfaces with the '88 Dak but here's a BTT for ya

About 15 years ago I did some work on my 87 Dakota. I built a 3.9 4bbl. with electronic ignition. I would think a 440 with electronic ignition would be wired in the same way. I remember the instructions from mopar said to connect to the dark blue wire in the main harness. You should be able to find a copy of the instructions on the net somewhere. Most everything else should pretty much plug in

You need 12V to feed the ICU and wire the coil to make it run, correct? It would be nice to know the oil pressure and water temps also, correct? You need to make the starter work so that means you have four circuits to make work, three of them need one wire only to work work scope The starter needs the main battery feed and the solinoid feed so that circuits needs two wires also. You can do this easily up Identify and label each wire you disconnect it as you go and reuse all of them that you can, extend and modify those you can't reuse without work scope thumbsIHTHs
