On my old 62 Dart I just pinched the tracks just below the glass with a set of channel locks that was quick and simple(that was with the stock glass)

That really is the wrong end to cut weight.
I pulled out the window glass, the regulators, the trunk hinges and a lot of other stuff when I tubbed my '68 Coronet. Taking weight off the back does not help traction.

Not every application wants the same thing... Get the weight down, then shift what's left around to get the balance where it needs to be.
