My nose has picked up the smell of a possible heater core leak on my 06 ram. If it turns out to be a bad heater core has anyone tried those NAPA heater cores with the rotating tubes so the a/c doesn`t have to be drained?

Pull the glove box out and see if you can see the top of the core. Last one I did I just pull the dash back and lifted the core out with out doing anything under the hood. I'll check what year it was. I just check your I think would require HVAC removal.

Dash has to lay back in the front seat. You have to remove the heater box out to change the core. I'd recommend doing all of the doors and actuators also. Known issues with them.

Yea, After reading some more online info I see that I have no choice but to remove the heater box. Thanks
