I've got a non lock up A-518 auto in my 91 power ram 150 4x4 truck.
Transmission was re-built by a local transmission shop in my area in fall of 2011.
Since then I've put maybe 5 thousand miles on it.
Today I started it while it was in park and I revel the engine to help keep
It running cause it was the first start of the day and I noticed it was acting like it was wanting to move, like the engine had a load on it, the same way it does when you have it in drive and you put your foot on the brake and give it throttle.
I removed it from park and selected each gear down to 1st and then back up to park again and it didn't do it.
So when I got home from work I put it in park and decided to give it some throttle to see what it would do and it did it again, acted like there was a load on the engine, so again I removed it from park and put it back in park and tried it again and it didn't do it again.
So what's going on? Is my shift linkage not adjusted correctly or what? That's the only thing I can think of.
It shifts fine and doesn't show any signs of slipping.

Sure sounds like you need to readjust the linkage. Could be just a little bit out.

I'll take a look at the linkage today, see if I can figure out how to give it a little
More slack.
