I had long thought that the original trim rings from my Superbird were scrap because of all the large dings and scratches on the flat face. After reading that they could be uncrimped to access the back of the front flat face, I sent them off to Rick Miller for restoration. Got them back today after ~8 weeks and they look fantastic!!!!

This is what this ring looked like before I sent it

YOu can reach Rick at:
60 North Crestline Drive
St. George, UT 84790-1103
rkmiller@infowest.com

Cost for doing my rings was $115 USD each. The cost probably varies depending on whether they have to be sent out to be uncrimped. Rick doesn't do the uncrimping himself - he sends them to some guys he has worked with for over 20 years. They have developed some tools to uncrimp them and then recrimp.

Did yours have to be uncrimped? I'd be worried with having someone send my parts out to someone else to undo something, send it back, have it restored, then send it back to the third party to have them recrimp, only to send it back to the restorer to then send it back to you. If he can do all that for $115 for each trim ring, thats a steal! I wonder how he makes any money on that?

What kind of a ring is that ? never heard of a '69 Magnum' trim ring.

Are you talking about the 69 14' brushed rings ? If so they were never called Magnum.

Mine were uncrimped. I don't really know the arrangement that Rick uses. Maybe his buddies that do the crimping live on the same street??
Whatever the arrangement, I'm very very happy with the result.
It is certainly a good deal in USD, but when the CDN dollar is so low, it was a lot of $$$$ after I got them into Canada. I think the rate was 1:47 CDN= 1:00 USD when the CC companies added on their take.

He probably meant Road Wheels and just used the common Magnum terminology

Realwing-

You said yours were not crimped. Did you remove the mounting ring or was your trim rings already missing them?

Just to clarify, the price you paid was for trim rings that did not have to have the mounting clips removed, right? I'm guessing it would be extra money if they had to be removed and reinstalled.

My rings were sent as originals. The mounting ring was factory crimped on and untouched and sent to Rick like that.
All 4 of mine had to be uncrimped by Rick/his guys to get at the backside of the front face of the rings to flatten the dents.
To get the quote, I sent him 2 or 3 photos of each ring which included a closeup of the worst damage. The estimate and the final invoiced price was the same.
