Does he currently or has he raced? Hold a comp license?

I think that should be a pre-requisite to having an administrative position w/ the NHRA.

Dallas Gardner (the prevuois president before Tom Compton) and Tom Compton where marketing and sales guys with GM, if my memory serves me correctly. Don't forget that Wally Parks and Mr Petersen(can't remember his first name), founder
of Pertersen puiblications, Hot Rod, Car Craft, Motor Trend magazines and a bunch of other automotive related magazines and Co Founder of NHRA where writers first, not hard core racers. They started NHRA to get drag racing off of the streets and out to a local race track, usually at a old abandon or rarely used airstrip. I'm not disagreeing with you about having the requirement for racing expereince be a prereqestite(SP?) for the job as NHRA president Me thanks that somewhere along the path to becoming the biggest sanctioning organization in drag racing the people controlling NHRA forgot about taking care of the primary entertaintment providers at there races, the sportsman racers. like you and I

Same thing happening in every board room in America. I worked at a family run company for 12 years, the old man died and they brought in an MBA type to run the company. 1st layoffs in company's history, freeze on capital spending, outsourcing of machining, focus on sales and rapid turnaround, general disregard for quality and customer service. No, I didn't work for Compton.

Here's a 2003 interview with him

wonder how many feel he has led the NHRA properly?

The bigger question is what does Dallas do to justify a $330,000.00 plus yearly salary working one hour a week?

My opinion of the NHRA has gone down lower every year. Their decisions are made without consulting the racers or even to the exact opposite of what we want. The latest one is what CC our stocker heads must pour. They came up with the SRAC for the racers to have some input. Two of the SRAC members quit not too long ago out of digust with the NHRA.

They have increased our divisional or national race entry fees without increasing any payout, the cost of joining the NHRA has gone up, you have to subscribe to the national dragster to race. Most of the time it take me less than five minutes to read anything important.

The NHRA is becoming Not Hardly Racing Anymore.

Ah...so many pedestrians, so little time...

While sponsors are dropping like flies, all we hear from Glendora is bragging about the fact the pro fields are finally full for Pomona.
There are a lot of good racers without rides right now.
But, NHRA is not helping any of them.
Compton is probably upset about not letting Bruton Smith buy NHRA back when the economy was good.
B.S. should be able to buy NHRA for a song later this year.

Your kidding me right , The owner of the company I work for has never driven a truck and has taken it 10 times of what it was since his fathers passing in 1999 ..

side bar to that, do I think NHRA is messed up sure I do , take it from someone who has tried to promote races , most racers are the problem
